Head Winemaker
Jay Johnston
Can a bottle of wine change your entire life’s trajectory? It did for Jay Johnston, when a glass of Pinot Noir on his honeymoon inspired him to leave the software industry and become a winemaker so that one day, he could make a wine as amazing as that honeymoon Pinot.
Graduating from Niagara College’s Viticulture & Winemaking program, Jay has been involved at some of Canada’s most storied wineries, including Jackson-Triggs, Le Clos Jordanne, Hidden Bench, and Flat Rock Cellars.
Jay has made some of the best wines in Ontario’s most iconic winemaking regions. He joined our new venture because he wants to be one of the first to take advantage of the terroir in Southwestern Ontario, to make unique, quality wines.
He is excited about our new venture, the emerging market in Elgin County, and the opportunity to put Southwestern Ontario on the map of great Canadian wine regions.
