The Role:

The Host/Hostess is responsible for organizing the day and setting the winery stage, coordinating all guest inquiries and reservations – whether it is for a tasting, dining, or an event. Working closely with the Front of House (FOH) team, the Host/Hostess ensures that all guests reservations are accurately recorded and communicated as required. Additionally, upon arrival, the Host/Hostess ensures guests are welcomed, seated in a timely fashion with all details of the experience curated and attended to. 

What You’ll Do:

  •  Greet all guests to Skye Chase Estate Winery with a warm, appreciative welcome. 
  • Check guests in confirming details of their reservation and escorting them to their table. 
  • Take guests water order and confirm their server is aware of their arrival and will be with you momentarily. 
  • Communicate with the server that a new table has been seated, sharing any pertinent details regarding their reservation. 
  • Take additional reservations on Open Table. 
  • Answer all telephone and in-person inquiries from customers in a warm, professional manner. 
  • Confirm guest reservations for the following day. 
  • Cross-selling Skye Chase products when possible. 
  • Assign tables strategically ensuring sections are evenly seated and timely allowing for efficient and effective kitchen timing. 
  • Have a keen knowledge and understanding of the menu, winery experiences, upcoming events and Wine Club details. 
  • Maintain the reception area, ensuring it is impeccable at all times. 
  • Remain in communication with the serving staff to ensure requested bottle purchases of guests are prepared for their departure. 
  • Ensure, when guests are leaving, they have their bottle purchases, they are addressed with gratitude for their choosing Skye Chase and a sincere wish to see them again soon. 
  • Interact with customers to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
  • Comply with all safety regulations of assigned tasks and ensure a clean, safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Take on additional appropriate tasks as required to support the overall operation of the winery.

Requirements:

  •  Experience in luxury hospitality, high-end retail or an equivalent setting (2+ years preferred)
  • Experience in a fast paced, fluid environment, with success adapting to last-minute changes. 
  • Passion to consistently be learning about wine and wine making process. 
  • Strong knowledge of the local area. 
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills. 
  • Experience with POS simplicity, Open Table and Shopify, would be a definite asset. 
  • Comfortable working inside and outside depending on seasonal reservations. 
  • Schedule flexibility that includes possible evenings, weekends and holidays.
